Costuming
Costuming is just as important as makeup for creating and immersing yourself in a Dark Elven character. While it is certainly not required, many Dark Elf players choose to dress in a Japanese or Asian style (either authentic or simply inspired by). This can range anywhere from formal kimonos and other such clothing to basic martial arts attire which will stand up well to the rigors of play. On the other end of the spectrum, some Dark Elven players choose costuming that is more basic and stick to simple swordsman shirts and wrap pants. In between you can mix and match to your heart's desire based upon your own preferences, budget, and your character's background. In the end, it's up to you in how intricate you wish your costuming to be.
Whatever your choices, you should keep in mind that darker colors are often preferable as they will not show the makeup that rubs off of you as badly. You can also minimize this (and reduce the amount of makeup you need to use) by wearing a form fitting black undershirt (such as Under Armor other sportswear).
Sewing Your Own Costuming
Whether you do it yourself or have someone sew your costuming for you, going this route can often be more cost effective than purchasing off-the-rack costuming. You also have the added freedom of choosing the exact fabrics and colors you want, and can have pieces tailored to better fit your body which will improve the overall look.
